SPAINISH GIGS [15/11/01]
Joe has just finished a round of gigs in Spain thanks to his promoters Vicente
"Robert Redford" Macias in Valcencia and "Insanity" Colman in Madrid.
Joe played some well received solo gigs that also included some Jack songs
with an impromtu backing band for the last gig. "The Others" were Edu Tail
(bass), Pedro Gas (guitar) and Asensio Divago (drums). Joe only met them a
couple of hours before the gig and they did a wonderful job of learning some

The newest release for Jack & the Beanstalk is the previously
unavailable Mr. Cynic on the latest "Bucketful of Brains" magazine (#55) from
the UK. The CD is given away free with every copy of the magazine, it's well
worth checking out. The song was recorded last year in a quick session that

Studios in Stockholm finishing up new tracks for Jack & the Beanstalk's still
untitled second album.

STOCKHOLM GIG
[24/11/99]
Joe played his first gig in what seemed like ages at the Alcazar bar in Stockholm
on Saturday 24 November. The bill featured Bobsleigh and good friends, Opossum
who Joe joined on stage for their last 3 numbers. The gig went so well that
Joe's hangover reportedly lasted all Sunday and most of Monday.
| RETURN TO MALMÖ
[04/09/99] In a historic return to the south of Sweden, Joe played a solo gig at Estrad two days shy of his 30th birthday. Many family and friends had gathered, including Torpedo Record's Lars Wenker and members of his Expo 58 team, in particular his royal hieness, Prince Bengt. |

| JOE AND HAPPYDEADMEN
[24/08/99] Joe has teamed up with his Torpedo labelmates, happydeadmen in Stockholm for what could possibly be the ultimate Torpedo recording (Lars Wenker is totally overcome). On Sunday 22 August at Hillson Sound Studios they recorded a version of Gene Clark's "Full Circle Song" for a forthcoming tribute compilation. The compilation is likely to be a double CD celebrating the incredibly outstanding (but criminally uknown) work of the ex-Byrd. It will be released early in the new year through the US label, Not Lame Recordings. |

JOE THE PRODUCER [08/08/99]
This weekend Joe Algeri did some production work, played acoustic guitar and
did backing vocals for new Swedish band, Opossum. They recorded a 3
track demo for Per Gessle's publishing company and label in Stockholm, Jimmy
Fun Music. Check out Joe’s production page for
more details.
| IPO 99 [05/08/99] Joe has just returned from his performance at the second International Pop Overthrow Festival in Los Angeles. Unfortunately plans to reunite with the rest of Jack & the Beanstalk, or at least Kevin, fell through. Nevertheless Joe put in a rather dodgy solo set to appreciative fans and friends, most of whom he met there in 1998. |
![]() Joe and friends at IPO, California |
COWBOY IN SWEDEN [09/07/99]
Joe performed his first concert since his return to Sweden at Kafe Tjoget
near where he lives in Stockholm. The gig was a success but afterwards Joe
raced off to the re-sceduled Fanclub Festival where his long time hero, Lee
Hazlewood was performing. It was Lee's first gig in Sweden in 25 years
and possibly his last, he turned 70 on this date. Joe missed his set and was
"totally spewing", but from all reports it was a shit concert. At least the
crowd at Joe's gig were treated to lively versions of Sugar Town and
These Boots Are Made For Walkin'.
EVERYTHING UNDER
THE SUN [08/06/99]
Joe's first proper solo album, has eventually been released across the world,
through Parasol records, Torpedo Records and Egomaniac Music. You can check
the full tracklisting of the album, sleeve notes from Spinning Top's, Mal
Hope, and other details in the records
section.
