WINDMILLS TOP PRIZE WON BY GORDON
It was a night to remember for David Gordon who took out top honours at Morley Windmills' annual awards night. 23-year old Gordon picked up the Fairest and Best trophy ahead of joint runners-up Chris McCullough and veteran defender Trevor Hatton. McCullough was voted the Players' Player of the Year with the Coaches Award taken out by Paul Dundo. The Club Person of the Year went to life member Wally Moesker who, although now in his 80's, continues to pour his heart and soul into helping the club.
Mick McGrath scooped the Fairest and Best as well as Players' Player of the Year trophies at reserve team level. Paul Featonby was runner-up Fairest and Best, and Jamal Banvait went home with the Coaches Award. Alex Green dominated the youth team awards when named both the Fairest and Best and Players' Player of the Year. Sam Macrou was runner-up Fairest and Best with Tas Ventouras receiving the Coaches Award.
ROUND 22 - 20th September, 2008
South West Phoenix were held to a 1-1 draw by mid-table Morley Windmills at Wotton Reserve. Rory Binnie put the visitors ahead after 20 minutes only to have Bobby Irving snatch a point with twelve minutes remaining.
ROUND 21 - 13th September, 2008
A couple of own goals and Julio Barendilla’s second half finish made the world of difference when Morley Windmills dumped Queens Park 3-0 at Coker Park.
ROUND 20 - 6th September, 2008
Morley Windmills scored just fifth win of the campaign by overcoming Gosnells Cot 3-2 at Wotton Reserve. Noong Narongphunt bagged the decider with eleven minutes remaining to add to Farrell Hedges 66th minute finish and an own goal shortly after the interval. Gosnells’ goals came from Jimmy Capewell and Ian Maguire.
ROUND 19 - 30th August, 2008
Ahmed Hafez got the goal that earned Bayswater City a 1-0 win against Morley Windmills at Wotton Reserve.
ROUND 18 - 23rd August, 2008
Forrestfield United and Morley Windmills played out a 1-1 draw at Hartfield Park. Forrestfield went into the break in front thanks to Andy Harold only to have Julio Barrendilla level four minutes after the re-start.
ROUND 17 - 16th August, 2008
Rockingham City picked up their second win in as many outings by toppling Morley Windmills 3-2 at Wotton Reserve.
ROUND 16 - 9th August, 2008
Breakaway First Division leaders Canning City were held to a surprising 2-2 draw when Morley Windmills visited Willetton Sports Club. It took only
8 minutes for Morley to announce their intentions as Trevor Hatton's free-kick deep into the 18-yard box was met by a crisp volley from Scott McIlroy
to open the scoring. However, that lead lasted all of five minutes before Paul Oliver's ball into the area went to feet and in the ensuing scramble
Rory Moutett netted at close-range. The remainder of the half produced remarkably few chances on goal as the two sides wrestled for control amid watertight
defending from both camps. This pattern flowed through into the second half and for a long while it looked as though they would be no addition to the
scoreline. But the deadlock was broken just after the hour when Paul Harvey evaded several tackles to go inside the area and unleash a low drive to the
right of goalkeeper Chris Ramsey. With two minutes remaining Julio Barendilla latched on to Mitchell Castrilli's long ball and out-paced the defence before
crossing for Simon El Chami to steer in the equaliser from 6-metres.
ROUND 15 - 2nd August, 2008
Balcatta overcame a determined Morley Windmills 3-2 at Wotton Reserve. Adam Purcell, Adriano D’Adamo and Adrian Coloeiro found the target for the visitors with both Morley’s goals coming via Julio Barendilla.
ROUND 14 - 26th July, 2008
Morley Windmills scored just their fourth win of the campaign by dumping Ashfield 3-0 at Ashfield Reserve. Bobby Irving broke the deadlock minutes after
the interval with Eddie Walsh securing the points with a double.
ROUND 13 - 19th July, 2008
Dianella White Eagles won their first away game of the winter by out-shooting Morley Windmills 2-1 at Wotton Reserve. The ball
had been in motion just a few minutes when Jon Greenwood's spectacular scissor-kick from an Aaron Moschopolous throw-in flashed
past goalkeeper Chris Ramsey to put the visitors one-up. Dianella's second arrived in the 35th minute following a surging run by Alan
Crofts whose neat post cross was glanced in off the head of Greenwood. Colin Hodge almost made it three-nil five minutes later but after
beating his marker the Scotsman fired narrowly wide. Morley's best chance came the way of Simon El Chami who hit the crossbar just moments
before half-time. Matthew Battigelli was under seige in the second half with a couple of excellent saves to thwart Bobby Irving and El Chami.
Dianella son re-established control and Hodge should have done better when played through with only Ramsey to beat, while Riste
Stefoski's long-range strike wasn't far off target. Morley didn't really spark into life until Paul Dundo's dismissal for a second
yellow card on 75 minutes. Mitchell Castrelli was presented with a good chance to reduce the deficit only to be denied by Battigelli.
The game was in stoppage time when Castrilli provided the ball to Swiss import Julian Noyer who calmly slotted in their consolation.
ROUND 12 - 12th July, 2008
Wanneroo City’s title aspirations are effectively over after being held 2-2 by Morley Windmills at Kingsway Sporting Complex. Rowdy Yates and Simon Woodward were on the
scoresheet for Wanneroo with goals coming via Michael McGrath and Julio Barendilla for Windmills.
ROUND 11 - 5th July, 2008
South West Phoenix made it four in a row with a comfortable 3-0 win over Morley Windmills at the Soccerdrome. It was clear from
the outset that Phoenix meant business but an unability to bring Steve Suttie and Gary Mayers into the game made for a quiet
afternoon for the strike partners. Thankfully, teenage midfielder Ryan Binnie knows a thing or two about scoring and on 19 minutes
he opened their account with a classy header from David Murphy's cross. Patrick Quinn and Greg Hayes went close with strikes from
long-range, while goalkeeper Chris Ramsey was given a reprieve after failing to control a back pass which bounced luckily back to
him after hitting the post. The hosts second arrived five minutes from the break when Suttie's delivery from the right was met by
a bullet-like Binnie header into the top corner. Morley may have played with greater composure after the break but a lack of
creativity in the final third produced few genuine openings. Kieran Kavanagh put the icing on the cake by latching onto a
chipped pass from Mayers and rounding the 'keeper to net the hosts' third from a tight angle.
ROUND 10 - 28th June, 2008
The upset of the round came from Wotton Reserve where Queens Park toppled Morley-Windmills 1-0 after Windmills dominated for most
of the game.
ROUND 9 - 14th June, 2008
Gosnells City put some distance between themselves and the drop zone by sweeping past Morley Windmills
3-2 at Walter Padbury Reserve. It was a positive start from the home team who went ahead on 2 minutes
through a well worked counter-attack in which Sam Maguire’s pass across the face of goal was converted
by Darren Francis at close-range. Ian Maguire featured heavily as Gosnells sought for a way to double
their advantage before Morley kicked into rhythm with Gary Murdoch and Simon El Chami leading the way.
Parity was restored after 21 minutes when Edward Walsh’s throw-in was met by Noong Naraphont whose shot
on the turn flashed into the net as goalkeeper Alan Dunlop grasped at air. It was pretty much one-way
traffic after the break with Gosnells holding the ascendancy thanks largely to the central midfield
command Salvi Chavez. The hosts regained the lead just after the hour when Alan Claxton’s attempted
chip caught the fingertips of goalkeeper Chris Ramsey to fall to Ian Maguire who tapped into the net
amid justified calls for offside. The game looked over when Trevor Hatton and Ramsey collided when
attempting to clear the danger only to leave Darren Francis with the simple task of putting his
second into the net. But Naraphont ensured the tension would continue through to the end by netting
from a Murdoch cross with just eight minutes left.
ROUND 8 - 7th June, 2008
Morley-Windmills stormed their way to victory 4-1
against Forrestfield United in a one-sided game
at Wotton Reserve. The game started at a
frenetic pace and several unconverted half
chances by the home side. Their dominance was
rewarded in the 25th minute when Bobby Irving
played a quick one-two with Scott McIlroy before
crossing for Farrell Hedges to net for the first
time this season. McIlroy went close to adding
a second with a firece strike from the edge of
the 18-yard box which was saved by Brad Eiffe,
who soon after came up trumps in a one-on-one
with Noong Naraphont. Hedges increased
Morley's lead on the stroke of half-time by
weaving around two defenders and lashing past the
goalkeeper. The result was put beyond doubt
twelve minutes into the second half when Paul
Dundo played out wide to McIlroy whose incisive
ball in behind the defence allowed Hedges to
complete his hat-trick. Irish import Edward
Walsh completed the route just after the hour
with a simple tap-in after Naraphont's lofted
shot cleared the 'keeper. Morley then
squandered a succession of gilt-edged chances
with Dundo, Gary Murdoch and substitute Michael
McGrath the guilty parties. Forrestfield
grabbed a late consolation through M.Kamara whose
cracking shot from 17-metres was out Chris Ramsey's reach.
ROUND 7 - 31st May, 2008
Bayswater City remains top of the league after behing held 1-1 at home by Morley Windmills. Noong
Naraphont put the visitors ahead just before interval with Adrian Sutton equalising on 59 minutes.
ROUND 6 - 24th May, 2008
Morley Windmills won their second game of the league season to move away from the relegation zone under lights away to
Rockingham City. Windmills went a goal behind early on against bottom side Rockingham City, before the team in orange
got into top gear by running out 4-1 winners.
SOCCER POOLS CUP, SECOND ROUND - 17th May, 2008
Western Knights were rarely troubled as they swept aside Morley Windmills 4-1 under sunny skies at Wotton Reserve. Rory
Grant's second hat-trick in eight days was the inspiration behind the visitors win and keeps alive their hopes of ending
the season with silverware. It didn't take long for the Knights to show their hand as Barry Devlin volleyed just high of
the crossbar from David Micevski's cross after 7 minutes. Morley were equally as determined to score the opening goal
which almost came when Scott McIlroy and Gareth Lloyd combined with great effect to set up Farrell Hedges who fired
narrowly wide. A blistering Micevski shot which flashed over the bar provided the impetus for the Knights to take
things up a notch and seize control of the game. The pressure paid off in the 32nd minute when Luka Jukic's cross was
flicked on at the near post for Grant to nod in at close-range. Six minutes later the margin was doubled with Matt Allen
this time the provider for Grant whose neat shot on the turn from 9-metres came to rest in the bottom corner of Chris
Ramsey's net. Anthony Skorich almost added a third early in the second half when played through one-on-one with Ramsey
but could only watch as his low shot hit the inside of the post then bounced away to safety. A swift counterattack
shortly after looked to have put the result beyond doubt with Anthony Fearon's superb cross picking out an unmarked
Skorich who headed past Ramsey. Complacency on the Knights behalf allowed Lloyd to unleash an optimistic long-range
shot which, after deflecting off a defender, looped over Kevin Miller to give the host side a glimmer of hope. Noong
Naraphont should have further reduced the gap but instead flicked the ball high from 5-metres after being found by
Paul Dundo. With ten minutes remaining Grant completed his hat-trick by converting Allen's precise cross to ensure
the Knights of a place in the Cup's last eight. In the Reserves Windmills lost 5-3, while our Under 18's team are
through to the quarter-finals after a great 5-1 victory.
ROUND 5 - 10th May, 2008
Canning City overcame a well-organised Morley Windmills defence to register a 1-0 victory from a dour struggle at
Wotton Reserve. The win moves Canning into joint second position with Bayswater City and Balcatta, and just two behind
early pacesetter Wanneroo City, after five games. A lack of penetration made for a quite opening half for goalkeepers
Chris Ramsey and Devon Spence. The best opening came when David Gordon won possession and combined with Farrell Hedges
and Scott McIlroy to set up Noong Naraphont who wasted the chance. Daniel Trevisiol had a great to put Canning ahead
but Ramsey was quick off his line to smother the shot. A tight second half was dominated by the respective defences
who worked tirelessly to keep genuine opportunities to a minimum. Hedges sprayed the ball high from 6-metres after
being found unmarked by Paul Dundo, but his effort would have been disallowed in any case for offside. It was a miss
that would prove costly as four minutes later Paul Harvey sent Ramsey the wrong way from the penalty spot after the
striker was felled by Naraphont. Canning suffered a late blow when Paul Oliver was dismissed by referee Greg Birch
for a second yellow card.
ROUND 4 - 3rd May, 2008
Balcatta picked up their second win in as many weeks by knocking over Morley-Windmills 2-0 at Graham Burkett
Reserve. Andy O’Neill and Julian Piromalli scored either side of the break to secure victory a home win.
ROUND 3 - 26th April, 2008
Morley-Windmills picked up maximum points for the first time this season by accounting for neighbouring Ashfield 3-1
at Wotton Reserve. Wayne Culverwell (2) and Paul Dundo got the goals for Morley with I.Charming scoring on the hour for the visitors.
ROUND 2 - 19th April, 2008
Dianella White Eagles picked up three valuable points by downing Morley-Windmills 2-1 in a tightly contested
meeting at Dianella Reserve. The home team were quick in gaining control with Zoran Delov and Matt Butler
displaying some good touches in the middle of the park. Dianella could have been a few goals up at the break if not for
early season rustiness. As it was, they did take the lead after 19 minutes when Butler's curling cross was met by Aaron
Moschopoulos whose goalbound shot was driven into the net by Alan Crofts. Simon El Chami brought the teams level in the
final minutes of the half by converting from the penalty spot following a hand ball against Dragan Njegic. Windmills
came out for the second period with an increased desire for goals as Noong Naranphunt and Wayne Culverwell went close to
putting them ahead. Down the other end substitute Miladin Gligoroski shot wide of the mark and Goran Radinovic headed narrowly
high as the sides traded attacks. The game was five minutes from full-time when Croft skipped past an opponent and squared
across the goalmouth where an unmarked Butler tapped in. Morley's miserable day was compounded with the late dismissal
of Trevor Hatton for a second yellow card offence.
ROUND 1 - 12th April, 2008
There were goals aplenty at Wotton Reserve where Wanneroo City triumphed 6-4 over Morley Windmills. The visitors
came out firing to open up a two-goal buffer inside the quarter hour as Brian Cairney and Rowdy Yates found an
avenue to goal. Farrell Hedges put Windmills back in the game just before the half hour by firing in from the top
of the 18-yard box after good lead-up work down the right by Noong Naranphunt. However, Cairney put Wanneroo back
in command with goals in the 47th and 55th minutes before the margin blew out to four goals courtesy of Ben Yates.
Windmills mounted a late comeback with Dave Gordon's shot from 20-metres coming to rest in the back of the net. And with
five minutes left on the clock Mitch Castrilli made his way down the left before crossing for Wayne Culverwell to head
in and bring the gap back to just two goals. But Wanneroo were in no mood to throw the game away and two minutes later
D.Herety put the result beyond. Julian Noyer brought some respectability to the scoreline by heading in Windmills a
stoppage time consolation.
SOCCER POOLS CUP, FIRST ROUND - 5th April, 2008
Morley-Windmills overcame local rival Ashfield 1-0 in a fiercely contested if scrappy encounter at Wotton
Reserve. The games solitary goal arrived with just 8 minutes gone when Gareth Lloyd's corner was flicked on by
Alan Nanini and Chris McCulloch pushed the ball past the out-stretched arms of goalkeeper Atekhis Elhossain. With
neither team able to stamp their authority over proceedings play ebbed and flowed from one end of the field to the
other for the rest of the half. Windmills displayed the greater composure with Paul Dundo the architect of their better
attacking moves and would have extended their lead if not for rusty finishing by strike partners Lloyd and Greenwood
who squandered several guilt-edged chances. Greenwood eventually found a way through just before half-time when he
emerged from behind the defence to net, however, last years 2007 Golden Boot winner was denied a goal by a dubious
offside call. Jamie Kumkar, Martin Kelly and Osman Conteh featured prominently as Ashfield emerged for the second
half determined to get back on level terms. Martin Kelly was denied what looked like being a certain goal when his
free-kick from 20-metres crashed into the legs of an opponent. A lung-bursting run by James Long took him past
several opponents only for his shot to be blocked by a defence underpinned by McCulloch and Nanini. Windmills almost
snuck a second goal close to the end when Greenwood slipped clear of the defence but placed wide with
only the 'keeper to beat.

| Current Round | | Results and Fixtures | | Result Matrix | ROUND 22 - 28th September, 2007 The final round of the First Division season commenced with Morley Windmills’ 1-0 defeat of Ashfield on Friday night at Wotton Reserve. Ashfield were by far the dominant side throughout the first half but were denied the opening goal on several occasions. Julian Piromali’s header from point blank range was miraculously kept out by Morley goalkeeper Chris Ramsey, and minutes later Piromalli was through with the goal at his mercy before Bobby Irving and Alan Nanini combined to deny the attacker. Morley had very few opportunities by contrast, however, a swift counterattack produced the goods as Remo McCann sliced open the defence with a terrific pass which Seita Hamamoto slotted past Kenny Ftynohiannis in a one-on-one. The pace quickened for a second half that produced good chances for both teams. Andy O’Neill and Rydeen Botha went close for Ashfield but their shots were either wide of the mark or scrambled clear by the defence. For the hosts it was Scott McIlroy, Remo McCann and Hamamoto that provided the danger but were unable to find the finish they sought. As the minutes ticked down Morley found themselves under increasing pressure as Ashfield pressed forward in a desperate, but ultimately fruitless, attempt to steal a point. ROUND 21 - 22nd September, 2007 Jon Greenwood bagged all four goals in Dianella White Eagles’ 4-2 trouncing of Morley Windmills 4-2 at Dianella Reserve. A quick opening was interrupted on 27 minutes when an error by Pavle Kuvelakovic presented visiting striker Seita Hamamoto with a simple tap in from 4-metres. Parity was restored four minutes later as Greenwood converted from the penalty spot following Wayne Culverwell’s foul on Miladin Gligoroski. Despite a concerted effort to attack there was no further addition to the scoreline and the teams went into half-time on level terms. Dianella flexed their attacking muscle upon the resumption of play and took a deserved lead when Paul Hickey beat two opponents on the right before cutting the ball back for Greenwood to slam into the roof of the net. Fifteen minutes later Hickey flicked a throw in on to Greenwood who headed in his third of the day from 5-metres. Greenwood then took his season tally to 31 goals by latching on to a Gligoroski through ball and exquisitely chipping the ‘keeper. Joe Woodin reduced the difference late in the piece with a crisp volley from Scott McIlroy’s delivery. ROUND 20 - 8th September, 2007 Canning City made light work of Morley Windmills to run out 6-2 winners at Wotton Reserve. It took only 9 minutes for the visitors to strike as Mitsopoulos’ cross found Dave Mickler whose shot from 9-metres bounced awkwardly in front of the goalkeeper Russell Denholm and skipped into the net. Four minutes later it became two-nil with Simon Versaico heading in a close-range after Morley failed to deal with a Ryan Allomes’ corner. The onslaught continued in the 26th minute when Paul Oliver’s speculative shot deflected into the path of Mickler who calmly finished. Morley got on the scoreboard just before the break through Seita Hamamoto who charged between two defenders to rifle in from just outside the 18-yard box. Any chance of a second half revival from Morley was killed off eleven minutes after the re-start by Daniel Trevisol who, spotting the ‘keeper off his line, delightfully lobbed in from 17-metres. Scott McIlroy did pull a goal back by tapping in a cross from Hamamoto, however, it was Canning that were in control. The visitors regained their three-goal buffer in the 59th minute after Trevisol was felled inside the area, and Oliver sent the ‘keeper the wrong way from the spot. Mitsopoulos scored their sixth goal with ten minutes remaining by heading in a cross from Versaico. ROUND 19 - 1st September, 2007 South West Phoenix consolidated third position in the table by casting aside Morley Windmills 4-1 at Wotton Reserve. The ball had been in motion just 2 minutes when veteran striker Gary Mayers tapped past goalkeeper Chris Ramsey after receiving a cross from Steve Suttie. Morley didn’t look like drawing level until the 37th minute when Seita Hamamoto squared to Scott McIlroy whose weak shot was held by Ryan Montgomery. With the very next play Phoenix doubled their advantage Greg Hayes’ crossed to the top of the 18-yard box where Suttie headed square to Mayers who laid the ball back to his strike partner to rifle into the net. Hamamoto and McIlory linked well in the 65th minute but the latters curving effort was high. Phoenix responded with a third goal through Suttie whose shot from an acute angle snuck between the ‘keeper and his near post. Morley finally pulled a goal back in the 76th minute when Paul Dundo took full advantage of poor defending to convert from 7-metres. David Murphy added his name to the scoresheet in the final minute by calmly knocking his shot past Ramsey after Suttie crossed from the left wing. ROUND 18 - 25th August, 2007 Gosnells City extended their winning run to three games by toppling Morley Windmills 3-0 at Walter Padbury Reserve. Jim Capewell, Brian Cairney and Ian Maguire each found the net before Windmills were reduced to ten men with the dismissal of Adrian McCann. ROUND 17 - 18th August, 2007 Morley Windmills swept aside Queens Park 4-0 when they met at Wotton Reserve. The home fans became celebrations after 2 minutes when Seita Hamamoto turned his man on the edge of the 18-yard box and fired in a low shot which gave the goalkeeper no chance. A slick passing move down the left enabled Morley to doubled the margin in the 27th minute as Scott McIlroy threaded the ball to Remo McCann who laid it off for Adrian McCann to slot into the net. It was soon three-nil as Remo McCann sent McIlroy down the left from where he whipped a cross to the far post that Joe Woodin brilliantly controlled before pushing the ball between the posts. Good work by Paul Dundo saw him play down the right to Woodin whose cross was touched by the ‘keeper into the path of McIlroy who made no mistake from 9-metres. Morley were reduced to ten, then nine men as Remo McCann was issued two yellow cards in quick succession and Andy Bowyer was dismissed for foul play. Even so, the home team remained in control and debutant Mitchell Castrilli was denied their fifth by the ‘keeper who came out trumps in a one-on-one situation. ROUND 16 - 11th August, 2007 Rockingham City registered maximum points for the first time this season with a surprise 3-1 defeat of Morley Windmills at Dowling Street Reserve. ROUND 15 - 4th August, 2007 Morley Windmills returned to the winners circle by out-shooting Balcatta 3-2 at Graham Burkett Reserve. Scott McIlroy gave the visiting side an early lead with a quickly taken free-kick which he powered past a motionless goalkeeper from 22-metres. John Nicolaou was within inches of levelling on 18 minutes by nodding Tony Cumace’s free-kick on to the crossbar. With the break fast approaching Balcatta drew level through Anthony Tountounzis who beat ‘keeper Chris Ramsey from a difficult angle. And right on the stroke of half-time Nicolaou put the home team in front by poking in a cross from the left. Nicolaou headed high from another Cumace free-kick early in the second half as Balcatta attempted to kill off the game. However, Morley had other plans and in the 63rd minute Seita Hamamoto tied the score after being played in behind the defence and beating the ‘keeper Ton Alexovski from 9-metres. Five minutes later Paul Dundo’s shot from distant slammed into the crossbar as Morley went in search of a winner. The game would be settled with eight minutes remaining when McIlroy crashed a penalty into the top corner following a foul by the ‘keeper on Remo McCann. ROUND 14 - 21st July, 2007 Jordan Hart scored twice and K.Melling once when Forrestfield United upset Morley Windmills 3-2 at Wotton Reserve. McCann tallied up both goals for Windmills who finished the day with ten men after the 83rd minute dismissal of Joe Woodin. ROUND 13 - 14th July, 2007 Morley Windmills consolidated fourth position on the table with a 4-3 win over Bayswater City on a sunny afternoon at Wotton Reserve. The home team took the lead just 6 minutes after kick off through a thunderbolt from well outside the 18-yard box by Scott McIlroy that had the goalkeeper grasping at air. However, parity was restored a minute later by Rory Grant who finished superbly after being played through on goal. In the 37th minute Wes Ryder put Bayswater in front with a powerful strike that was ruled to have crossed the line by the referees assistant. But that lead was short lived as three minutes later Seita headed past Cody Bradshaw. Midway through the second half Morley regained the upper hand as Scott McIlroy whipped a corner to the far post where Andrew Bowyer hooked it back across goal for Joe Woodin to head in. Bowyer then c ontroversially issued his second yellow card for some over-enthusiastic celebrations in front of the Bayswater supporters. The game was seemingly made safe three minutes later by Woodin who again found a way past the ‘keeper. Bayswater weren’t about to give up the chase and with only minutes remaining Sal Marrapodi converted in a frantic goalmouth scramble to set up a tense finish. ROUND 12 - 7th July, 2007 Mandurah City maintained their three point advantage at the top of the First Division table by defeating Morley Windmills 2-0 at Hyundai Stadium. The better of early chances came the way of the home side as Graeme Matthews crashed a shot into the crossbar, while Jake Loreto’s effort was prevented from crossing the line by the legs of the goalkeeper. Morley, playing with the aid of a strong breeze, looked dangerous once they settled and on several occasions home custodian Mike Green proved himself a worthy opponent when put to the test. Jordan Rhodes and Jeff Bright were presented with good opportunities to put Mandurah in front but were both unable to capitalise. Just before the break the home side found a way through via Matthews’ cross to Christian Paschkewitz who made no mistake. The second half saw Mandurah gain the upper hand only to be thwarted by the frame of the goal. Stuart Francis’ header cannoned back off the bar, and later in the period Paschkewitz rose majestically to nod a Scott Halpin free-kick into the woodwork. The result was sealed in the 81st minute by substitute Michael Bobridge who expertly drew ‘keeper before pushing his shot into the net. ROUND 11 - 30th June, 2007 An impressive Morley Windmills moved up the table after defeating Dianella White Eagles 4-1 at Wotton Reserve. The star of the show was striker Farrell Hedges whose hat-trick enabled Morley to leapfrog Dianella into third place. The home team took only four minutes to register their first through new signing Seita Hamamoto who stabbed home from 7-metres after Dianella failed to clear a Scott McIlory corner. Chances were scarce in a defence-minded first half that ended with a terrific save from Pedro Pavez in response to Remo McCann's curling strike. Dianella carved out the first chance of the second period via Dragan Njegic whose shot from 18-metres was well saved by Chris Ramsey. Morley got a deserved second in the 58th minute when Hamamoto headed across the face of goal for Hedges who tapped in from point-blank range. Hedges bagged his second six minutes later with a fine shot on the turn from the edge of the penalty area. Dianella looked to be back in the hunt after Ray Rose redirected David Moschilla's cross into the net on 67 minutes. However, the result was put beyond doubt shortly after when Hedges drifted into the area unchecked to put away a cross from Scott McIlroy. ROUND 10 - 23rd June, 2007 Ashfield emerged 3-2 winners over Morley-Windmills on a wet afternoon at Ashfield Reserve. The home team settled the quicker and deservedly went ahead on 19 minutes through Rydeen Botha who made no mistake from the penalty spot after being impeded by Andrew Bowyer. It should have two-nil not long before half-time when Windmills' goalkeeper Chris Ramsey failed to take a cross and the ball fell kindly for Botha who placed high of the crossbar from 6-metres. Windmills showed a lot more composure after the break and parity was restored by Farrell Hedges who seized upon a defensive mishap by Tom Gaca and shot over goalkeeper Drazen Saric. Four minutes later the visitors had the lead courtesy of another mistake at the back which allowed Hedges in to round the 'keeper before tucking the ball away. Ramsey was caught off-guard in the 71st minute by a back header which Julian Piromalli got to first and knocked into the net. The decider came six minutes from the end when Igor Novakovic floated a free-kick into the area where the ball slipped from Ramsey's grip and in a flash Damien Todorovic had it in the net. ROUND 9 - 16th June, 2007 Mandurah City moved to the top of the First Division table by downing Morley Windmills 3-1 in this afternoon’s key fixture at Wotton Reserve. After a tight opening spell was punctuated on 19 minutes by Jordan Rhodes who put the visitors ahead with a neat chip over goalkeeper Chris Ramsey from 12-metres. Morley went agonizingly close to levelling in the 28th minute when Remo McCann delivered the ball to Brad Hassell who wasted the opportunity. Graeme Matthews earned Mandurah a penalty ten minutes from the break but Rhodes spot kick was blocked by Ramsey, and with the follow-up Andy Brown sprayed the ball wide. The home team stepped things up a gear for the second half which opened Mike Green denying Andy Bowyer and Scott McIlroy. However, there was nothing the Mandurah custodian could do when McIlroy brought the teams level on 61 minutes by tucking the ball away at close-range. Matthews restored the visitors lead two minutes later after picking up the ball near the halfway line and charging into the 18-yard box before rifling past the ‘keeper. The points were made safe in the 71st minute when Ramsey spilt a cross to which Shane Crampton reacted by whipping the ball over the line. ROUND 8 - 9th June, 2007 Bayswater City caused an upset by toppling Morley Windmills 3-0 at Frank Drago Reserve. Ryan Frisina scored twice and Riste Stefoski once for the home team. SOCCER POOLS CUP, SECOND ROUND - 2nd June, 2007 Boima Karpeh scored a hat-trick to lead Floreat Athena into the quarter-finals with a hard fought 3-0 win over Morley Windmills at Litis Stadium. Floreat gave their opponent a lesson in how the game is played with quick movement and crisp passing which continually opening up the visiting defence. It only took 14 minutes for Floreat to open their account as Karpeh surged forward, shrugging off two challenges and unleashing a long-range shot which Chris Ramsey could not keep out. The margin was doubled six minutes later when a shot struck the hand of Andrew Bowyer, the referee had no choice but to point to the spot from where Karpeh coolly converted. Karpeh’s pace in the final third was causing Morley all sorts of problems as Josip Magdic and Adam Bachillor provided the supply coming out of midfield. The 25-year old could have had his hat-trick before the break when Magdic put Karpeh in a good position but instead of shooting himself he unselfishly passed to Stefan Smiljanic who was beaten to the ball. Morley emerged for the second half a much different proposition and took the game right up to the Premier League heavyweights. They were unfortunate not to peg a goal back two minutes in when Farrell Hedges shot narrowly wide of the target from outside the 18-yard box. The visitors certainly had the better of proceedings with Hedges liveliness up front giving the underdogs hopes of a possible upset. However, with time running out the visitor’s hopes were tarnished when defender Joe Woodin was sent off for a second bookable offence following a late challenge on Branimir Mikulic Morley became increasingly frustrated as the clock ticked down and in injury time Karpeh completed a deserved hat-trick with a neat chip over Ramsey from 14-metres. ROUND 7 - 26th May, 2007 Morley Windmills continued their impressive start to the season with a hard fought 2-0 win over Balcatta at Wotton Reserve. Both teams started positively with Windmills gaining the lead after 9 minutes when enterprising work down the left by Joe Woodin and Farrell Hedges resulted in the latter cutting the ball across the face of goal to an unmarked Scott McIlroy who put it past the goalkeeper from 7-metres. This fired up both teams who continually ripped into one another with some ferocious tackles. Balcatta looked good going forward but couldn’t find the equaliser they were looking for. In the 40th minute Remo McCann almost added a second for the hosts with a stunning strike from distance which was paddled onto the crossbar by the ‘keeper. Windmills went two up shortly after when McIIlroy charged through the defence only to crash his shot into the bar, and Gary Murdoch met the rebound with a terrific diving header into an empty net. Both teams worked hard throughout the second half for no reward. McIlroy thought he’d added Morley’s third only for it to be disallowed by an offside flag. Balcatta’s best chances came from distance but neither Toby Wright nor John Nicolaou caused much for Chris Ramsay to worry about. ROUND 6 - 19th May, 2007 Morley Windmills jumped up to second place on the First Division table after defeating Forrestfield United 2-1 at Hartfield Park. Farrell Hedges and Paul Dundo found the back of the net for the visitors before Phil Bell bagged Forrestfield’s late consolation. ROUND 5 - 12th May, 2007 Morley Windmills accounted for a determined Rockingham City 3-1 at Wotton Reserve. The home teams were on the offensive from the opening kick and would have gone ahead after 4 minutes had Farrell Hedges hit the target after good lead-up work from Andrew Bowyer and Joe Woodin. Hedges was again in the thick of the action shortly after only to this time be denied by goalkeeper J.Wilde. It was a case of third time lucky for Hedges who tucked the ball into the net after being teed up by Woodin on 24 minutes. Morley then took their foot off the pedal and Rockingham capitalised through a Steve Cramphorn free-kick that crashed through an ineffective wall and was just out of Chris Ramsey’s reach. The early stages of the second stanza saw the home team re-establish control but unable to break through a desperate Rockingham rearguard. Brad Hassell donned Morley colours for the first time by coming off the bench on 62 minutes and showed his class with a series of deft passes and streaming runs. However, it took a dubious penalty converted by Scott McIlroy to put Morley back in front after 70 minutes. Eight minutes later substitute Gary Murdoch fired into the top corner to secure the hosts maximum points. ROUND 4 - 5th May, 2007 Morley Windmills registered maximum points for the third consecutive time with a 3-0 win over Queens Park, who remain rooted to the foot of the First Division table after four games. Possession was evenly shared during the opening exchanges with both teams eagerly seeking the all-important go-ahead goal. A 10th minute a foul on Wayne Culverwell resulted in a Windmills penalty which Damien Todorovic calmly slotted beyond the goalkeeper's reach. That lead was almost doubled a few minutes later as Mark Walsh's shot rocketed off the upright and with the follow-up Scott McIlroy rifled into the crossbar. Windmills were going forward in waves and some quick movement in the 24th minute between Farrell Hedges and Joe Woodin found the path of Todorovic who lobbed a stranded 'keeper to widen the difference. Queens Park were able to tame the visitors attacking instincts in the latter stages of the half but still found the going tough when pushing forward. A more determined Queens Park emerged after the break, however, an inability to penetrate the 18-yard box coupled with the dismissal of Gavin Oakes for a second yellow card compounded their position. The result was put beyond doubt in the 89th minute when a sharp turn and shot from Hedges flew into the back of the net. ROUND 3 - 28th April, 2007 Morley Windmills edged past Gosnells City 1-0 in a game of few opportunities at Wotton Reserve. Swift movement of the ball took the visiting team straight into attack from kick-off and from a narrow angle Ciaran Allen's shot beat the goalkeeper only to crash into the side netting. Play then settled with neither team able to get on top and limited genuine goalscoring chances created. Windmills went ahead through a rare attack in the 19th minute when crisp passing between Scott McIlroy and Joe Woodin put the ball at the feet of Farrell Hedges who neatly lobbed goalkeeper Jade Thorpe. A guilt-edged chance to increase the difference went begging six minutes later as Damien Todorovic took one touch too many after rounding Thorpe who gratefully snatched possession. Hedges' was fortunate to remain on the park following a rash challenge on Arthur Majewski which came just minutes after picking up a soft yellow card. McIlroy's tireless workrate was almost rewarded in the 55th minute when Wayne Culverwell's pass sent him clear on goal only for his shot to come back off the upright. The introduction of teenager Darren Francis breathed new life in Gosnells who continually pushed into the final third only to be turned back by a well-organised defence. ROUND 2 - 21st April, 2007 South West Phoenix twice threw away the lead in crashing 3-5 to Morley Windmills at Bunbury’s Soccerdrome. The opening goal to a fast paced game arrived after 20 minutes when Steve Suttie flicked on a searching ball to Patrick Quinn who sent goalkeeper Chris Ramsey the wrong way from the edge of the 18-yard box. Late in the half Farrell Hedges coolly converted past Ryan Montgomery from a Joe Woodin cross to equalise, and minutes later Phoenix failed to deal with another dangerous cross which Scott McIlroy nodded back to Hedges who put Morley in front at the break. Fired by the coach Micky Cairns, the home side equalised when Quinn threaded a neat pass to Suttie who rounded Ramsey then guided the ball past a last defender Mark Walsh. Greg Hayes’ put the home side back in the driving seat with a long-range strike on the hour which Ramsey failed to hold. There was still plenty of life in Morley as Woodin supplied Damien Todorovic to make it three-all, and minutes later Hedges completed a deserved hat-trick. The points were made safe shortly before full-time when Walsh got on the end of a dipping corner with what could only be described as an improvised finish. ROUND 1 - 14th April, 2007 Canning City took all three points courtesy of a 2-1 scoreline from their meeting with Morley Windmills at Willetton Sportsman Club. Farrell Hedges scored a second half response for Morley after Daniel Trevisiol and an own goal had put the hosts in a commanding position.

| Current Round | | Results and Fixtures | | Result Matrix | ROUND 22 - 23rd September, 2006 The points were shared at Peelwood Parade where Mandurah City and Morley Windmills played out an entertaining 1-1 draw. The game opened with opportunities at both ends but neither side able to find a way past Mike Green and Dusan Martinovich. As the half progressed Morley gained the upper hand with good chances presenting for Ray Rose and Scott McIlroy to put the visitors ahead. Against the run of play and 25 minutes after kick-off Mandurah went ahead through Michael Bobridge who drilled the ball in from 15-metres after an attempted clearance ricocheted off a defender. The second half was more balanced with John Transfield and Andy Brown bringing Mandurah more into the game with the end result being Martinovic was the far busier goalkeeper. But Morley refused to give up hope and with three minutes left on the clock equalised when Rose pushed the ball over the line in a goalmouth scramble after a corner went to feet. This sparked wave after wave of attack from both teams, but neither defence was in any mood to concede for a second time as the final game of the season petered out in a draw. ROUND 21 - 16th September, 2006 Morley Windmills threw away a three goal lead to share the points at 3-3 with First Division champion Fremantle Spirit. The ball had been in motion just 8 minutes when Ray Rose rounded a couple of defenders and rifled into the roof of the net from 6-metres. Eleven minutes later the margin became two goals as Paul Dundo rose highest to powerfully head in from a corner. Fremantle responded with a series of attacks and Grant Learmont twice cleared off the line to prevent David Rodgers from netting. Callum Roberts jinxed his way past three opponents but was let down by a poor finish with only the 'keeper to beat early in the second half. Scott McIlroy threaded in Morley's third of the afternoon from a narrow angle on 57th minutes to put them in the box seat. However, Fremantle had plenty left in the tank and on 74 minute Callum Roberts converted from close-range after Martinovich spilled a cross. The gap was back to a single goal ten minutes later when Roberto Colalillo waltzed past his marker and beat the 'keeper. Fremantle's comeback was made complete four minutes into stoppage time as Allan Pottier's cross to the far post was half-volleyed in by Tom Straker. ROUND 20 - 9th September, 2006 On a sunny spring day, Ashfield convincingly dealt with neighbouring Morley Windmills 5-2 when they met at Wotton Reserve. The boys from Ashfield enjoyed all the early possession and should have gone ahead through Andy O'Neill who smashed the ball against the upright. However, it was the home fans who were celebrating on 10 minutes when a lightning fast counter attack produced a stunning opener for Damien Todorovic. Stung by this unexpected setback, Ashfield worked some space for Mohammad Komaderic who brought the teams level from the edge of the penalty area. Five minutes later the visitors had the lead when O'Neill stroked in at the far post following a raid down the right. O'Neill then turned provider for Komaderic who made no mistake from in front after 33 minutes. Morley stepped up to the challenge and were rewarded with a second goal when Ray Rose, the smallest man in the box, nodded in from a throw in. The second half was all one-way traffic with Ashfield well in control and Igor Novakovic unlucky not to extend their advantage which his effort hit the crossbar. The points were made safe as Komaderic completed his hat-trick and Michael Filippou added himself to the scoresheet. ROUND 19 - 2nd September, 2006 Morley Windmills drew 3-3 with South West Phoenix in a game of high drama at Wotton Reserve. It was evident from early on that this wasn’t going to be a game for the football purists with the choppy, soft surface playing havoc with the ball. The visitors struck first through a fine move that took Sean O’Gorman past two opponents and angle his shot into the net on 16 minutes. Morley drew level just after the half hour through Damien Todorovic who made no mistake after Ray Rose’s shot was blocked by Mark Cavanagh. Ten minutes into the second half Morley went ahead as Rose got the slightest of touches to deflect in a shot by Todorovic. Phoenix equalised on 59 minutes when an excellent cross from Quinn was put away at the near post by Steve Suttie. Six minutes later Cavanagh denied the hosts a third goal by keeping out a spot kick from Scott McIlroy. This galvanised Phoenix and in the 68th minute Gary Mayers passed down the line to Suttie who cut inside and gave Dusan Martinovic no chances with a powerful low strike from 20-metres. Disaster struck shortly after when Greg Hayes was dismissed for a second yellow card offence. And with nine minutes left a terrific diving header by Rose earned Morley a share of the points. ROUND 18 - 26th August, 2006 Three invaluable points came the way of Gosnells City who mauled Morley Windmills 5-0 at Walter Padbury Reserve. Gosnells were out of the blocks fast and with 3 minutes gone they went ahead as Jon Cook delivered a low cross into the area which was neatly half-volleyed into the net by Andy Daffin. The margin was double just a few minutes later as goalkeeper Dusan Martinovich failed to cleanly take a cross and Mark Edwards was on hand to whip in the loose ball from close-range. The home team continued to apply the pressure and in the 25th minute added after Drew Grimshaw’s free-kick deflected off a defender and to Daffin who made no mistake. The second half was a carbon copy of the first with Gosnells controlling play and doing much of the attacking. Twelve minutes in and the difference became four goals after Aaron Nadin threaded a pass to Brian Cairney who rounded his marker and clipped the ball over the oncoming ‘keeper. Morley’s only genuine chance of the game came shortly after via a powerfully struck free-kick from Damien Todorovic which was tipped away by Jason Mehnert. Ian Maguire put the icing on Gosnells’ cake with a diving header which stemmed from some neat movement of the ball through midfield. ROUND 17 - 19th August, 2006 Morley Windmills left it late before taking maximum points from Rockingham City courtesy of a 2-1 scoreline at a waterlogged Wotton Reserve. The home side was given a dream start by Scott McIlroy who slid the ball into the net from a superb centring pass by Wayne Culverwell after just 2 minutes. Rockingham where struggling to come to terms with the condition of the pitch and Rob Crerar and Luke Rennie each prevented Ray Rose from adding to the hosts tally, while McIlroy shot centimetres wide of the post with Craig Olenjik beaten. Windmills looked the more dangerous side at the start of the second half as both teams opted for the long ball game. However, on 67 minutes Rockingham drew level through Rennie who scrambled the ball over the line at close-range after his header from a Paul Colkin cross came back off the post. Windmills were unfortunate not to reclaim the lead only a couple of minutes later as McIlroy shot straight at the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation. With fifteen minutes remaining Culverwell who got enough of a touch on a pass into the area to wrong-foot the ‘keeper and set up Rose with a simple tap in for the deciding goal. ROUND 16 - 5th August, 2006 A bruising encounter at Dianella Reserve saw Dianella White Eagles and Morley Windmills gain a point each courtesy of a 2-2 scoreline. There really wasn't a great deal to get excited about from the opening exchanges as both teams struggled to penetrate the opposing defence. An ankle injury to Dusan Martinovic forced Morley to changes goalkeeper after 28 minutes with seasoned campaigner Matt Darling entering the fray. This seemed to add a bit of bite to both attacks as good chances for Ray Rose and Rydeen Botha were sent over the crossbar at opposite ends of the park. Four minutes from the break Botha put Dianella in from by converting from the penalty spot after being brought down by a clumsy challenge from Darling. Spurred on by half-time roasting from the coaching staff, Morley showed a great deal more composure when play re-commenced. The visitors were back on level terms after 71 minutes when Rose stepped past a tackle before sending a low shot inside the upright. Six minutes later Scott McIlroy pounced on a loose ball and from the top of the 18-yard box unleashed a cracking shot that flashed past a startled Ramadan Lebib. Dianella rallied and with eight minutes left on the clock Zelko Savic poked the ball past Darling in a goalmouth scramble. ROUND 15 - 29th July, 2006 Wotton Reserve was the venue for an entertaining 3-3 draw between Morley Windmills and Forrestfield United. The ball had been in motion 20 minutes when Forrestfield were awarded a penalty for handball and from the spot Dennis Lee made no mistake in putting the visitors ahead. It didn't take Windmills long to restore parity when a corner was only partially cleared and Paul Dundo poked the ball between the posts from 9-metres. Forrestfield gained their second penalty of the afternoon when Justin Mansfield was brought down inside the box and on this occasion it was Jon Greenwood who converted. Ray Rose couldn't believe his luck right in the 44th minute when an attempted clearance landed at his feet and the Windmills striker levelled the scores. Hesitant defending allowed Rose to head in his second just minutes before half-time and put Windmills in front for the first time. There were plenty of chances for both teams in the remaining time but the only goal scored was in the 59th minute when Lee collected a searching pass and beat his man before cutting the ball to Greenwood who was successful from 6-metres. ROUND 14 - 22nd July, 2006 Morley-Windmills had the bye. ROUND 13 - 15th July, 2006 The points were shared by Morley Windmills and Balcatta who played out a 1-1 draw Wotton Reserve. Ray Rose gave the home team an early lead, but that was cancelled out after the break by David Moschilla. ROUND 12 - 1st July, 2006 Canning City won at home for just the second time this season with a 4-2 upset of Morley Windmills. The first to threaten were Canning as Julio Barrendilla shot into the side netting, and ten minutes later Marc Sim was thwarted at close-range by Matt Darling. Ray Rose was put through one-on-one with the Canning ‘keeper who held his nerve as his opponent lifted the shot high. The pressure was relentless and Darling’s reflexes were tested by Barrendilla, Michael Van Dongen’s shot was blocked on the line and from the rebound Sim placed narrowly over the crossbar. Canning got the breakthrough they were after in the 44th minute when a shot from Paul Van Dongen hit a defender and fell to Barrendilla who sent it past Darling. In stoppage time Michael Van Dongen slotted in from a tight angle to double the margin. And the difference became three goals less than a minute into the second half when Michael Van Dongen lobbed over Darling who was caught off his line. Rose and Scott McIlroy found the net within minutes of each other to bring Morley back into the game. But the afternoon belonged to the home team and just after the hour Barrendilla headed in Ryan Allomes’ corner to secure victory. ROUND 11 - 24th June, 2006 Mandurah City made it three wins in a row by out-scoring Morley Windmills 3-0 at Wotton Reserve. Morley were eager to score first and Wayne Culverwell went close inside the 1st minute. This had a settling effect on both sides and the remainder of the half was a fairly intense affair dominated by two well-drilled defensive units. Morley sustained a body blow not midway through the half when Damien Todorovic was harshly dismissed after apparently clashing with visiting captain Christian Paschkewitz. Although playing with an extra man, it took Mandurah until the 67th minute to break down a stubborn home defence with Paschkewitz netting the go-ahead goal. Going ahead injected new life into the Mandurah attack and shortly after a cross from Jake Loreto found the head of Michael Bobridge who located the back of the net. Not even the dismissal of Neil Connor for a second yellow card offence could dampen Mandurah's spirits as they sought to kill of the game. Morley refused to lie down and continually threatened to score on the counterattack before Loreto extinguished their hopes of a comeback by putting away the visitors third goal two minutes from the full-time whistle. ROUND 10 - 17th June, 2006 First Division leader Fremantle Spirit kept their fifth clean sheet of the campaign in thumping Morley Windmills 5-0 at Wotton Reserve. The best of the early chances came the way of the home team but neither Paul Dundo nor Ray Rose could capitalise. Ten minutes from the break Morley suffered a major setback when captain Simon Messenger was carried off with what looked like a serious a knee injury. David Rodgers took full advantage of a re-shuffling in the home defence when he beat the offside trap and slotted past Matt Darling to put Fremantle ahead. Within six minutes of the restart the game was over as a contest as the visitors piled on three unanswered goals. A piece of individual magic allowed Rodgers to double his tally. Callum Roberts latched on to a deep cross which he then blasted past Darling, and with 51 minutes played another well crafted counterattack saw Roberts put away goal number four in a one-on-one with the 'keeper. Morley went down to ten men when Danny Evans was issued a second yellow card, and this was soon balanced out as Michael Draper received his second booking. The scoring was completed in the 67th minute when Ben Kelly rounded two defenders then Darling to stroke in the net. ROUND 9 - 10th June, 2006 Ashfield took out an eagerly anticipated derby meeting with Morley Windmills by 4-1 at Ashfield Reserve. The game developed into an intriguing clash of styles straight from kick-off as Ashfield moved the ball around with short quick passes, while Morley employed a more direct approach in searching for the opening goal. The pressure on the visiting defence was relentless and through a free-kick Igor Novakovic crashed the ball into the crossbar, and a spectacular flying header by Mel Lovic met with the same fate. Morley's first genuine chance had Scott McIlroy shoot weakly at goalkeeper Francis Allen on 16 minutes. There was more than an ounce of luck involved when Ashfield broke the deadlock seven minutes from half-time as a miss-hit cross by Martin Kelly drifted over Matt Darling and into the top corner. Ashfield doubled their advantage five minutes later when Kelly latched on to a long ball and raced through an absent defence to slot past a badly exposed 'keeper. The second half opened with Ashfield determined to finish off the job with Lovic taking the margin to four goals by finding the net in the 56th and 59th minutes. The visitors did rally and snatched a consolation goal through Ray Rose. ROUND 8 - 27th May, 2006 Morley Windmills returned from Bunbury with all three points after coming from behind to beat South West Phoenix 2-1 at the Soccerdrome. Morley wasted little time in showing they meant business as good chances for Ray Rose, Damien Todorovic, Adrian McBride and Wayne Culverwell all went unconverted. The hosts eventually settled and a smothering save by Matt Darling thwarted James Monks, then Steve Suttie then hit the side netting from a narrow angle. Phoenix came out firing for the second half and deservedly took the lead ten minutes in when Gary Mayers played a free-kick short to Suttie whose cross to the near post was glanced into the net by Drasko Jankovic. Suttie was unfortunate not to double the gap with a fine strike from just outside the area that Darling tipped on to the crossbar. Morley upped the tempo with Scott McIlroy hitting the crossbar while shots by Rose and Todorovic called Mark Cavanagh into action. With fifteen minutes to play McIlroy brought the teams level by latching on to Simon Messenger’s through ball and lobbing the goalkeeper. Morley took the lead shortly after courtesy of a cross field ball from Bobby Irving which Todorovic fired into the top corner. And the late dismissal of David Murphy for a second yellow card offence only added salt to Phoenix’ wound. ROUND 7 - 20th May, 2006 Morley Windmills moved into second position on the First Division table after defeating Gosnells City 1-0 in a tight game at Wotton Reserve. The early signs were ominous as Ray Rose created space for himself on the left and curled a shot past the goalkeeper that cannoned back into play off the post. Gosnells suffered a major set back in the 11th minute when Artur Majewski was red carded for a crunching tackle on Damien Todorovic. Eleven minutes from the break Morley made the most of their numerical advantage as Leighton Smith poked the ball over the line in a goalmouth scramble. The visitors response was swift and Sean Cowman went within inches of equalising with a rasping shot the flashed over the crossbar. The second half saw good chances on goal at both ends of the park but a lack of quality finishing meant neither side was able to capitalise. Gosnells were thrown a lifeline in the 61st minute when Smith was issued his marching orders for a second bookable offence. The closing stages saw Gosnells pile on the pressure in an attempt to snatch a draw but Morley weren't about to let that happen and defended gallantly to ensure they claimed all the points on offer. ROUND 6 - 13th May, 2006 Morley Windmills defeated Rockingham City 3-1 in a game crucial for both clubs at Dowling Street Reserve. Rockingham started confidently and early long-range efforts from Luka Ivanovic and Jay Carmichael weren't far wide of the mark. Slowly but surely Morley got into stride as a free-kick from Adrian McBride flashed over the crossbar while Wayne Culverwell was denied in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The forward pairing of Damien Todorovic and Ray Rose was posing the most significant threat for Rockingham so it came as no surprise when Todorovic opened the scoring by skipping past Luke Rennie and Glenn Hornby to arrow a fine shot across the 'keeper. With Paul Dundo and Scott McIlroy controlling midfield it didn't take long for Morley to add a second through Rose who weaved through the defence to score from close-range. After the break Rockingham showed greater purpose and substitute Rob Crerar shot high when well placed. Poor defending again let the home side down when Rose rounded the 'keeper to net after receiving a cross from Bobby Irving. Nine minutes before the final whistle Rockingham scored their consolation as Crerar's cross fell to Ivanovic who expertly curled the ball into the far top corner. ROUND 5 - 6th May, 2006 Morley Windmills collected their third win in four outings by defeating Dianella White Eagles 3-1 at Wotton Reserve. The first genuine opening of the game fell to Morley striker Ray Rose who headed just beyond the upright after 9 minutes. Possession over the remainder of the half was evenly shared with much of play taking place in the middle third and neither goalkeeper really put to the address. The deadlock was finally broken seven minutes from the break when a quickly taken free-kick made it's way to Rose whose low strike had some of the pace taken off it by the goalkeeper but still trickled over the line. Dianella were put back in the game fifteen minutes into the second half when Dejan Djukanovic lashed a cross into the box past Matt Darling. Just eight more minutes had elapsed before Morley regained the advantage as a Rose scissor kick gave the visiting goalkeeper no chance. Damien Todorovic was given a great opportunity to add a third for the hosts but failed to hit the target with only the 'keeper to beat. Victory wasn't assured until the final minute when Rose completed his hat-trick was a powerful close-range header. ROUND 4 - 29th April, 2006 Morley Windmills returned home from Hartfield Park with maximum points after accounting for Forrestfield United 2-1. The opening exchanges were fairly tame as the two sides sized each other up and were very careful not to expose themselves at the back. All that changed in the 14th minute when Phil Bell curled a cross into the area and Lucas Whitehouse's half volley flew into the net to put the hosts in charge. Within a few minutes Matt Darling had single handed prevented Forrestfield from increasing their advantage with a terrific save from Grant Williams. Morley piled on the pressure and Ray Rose, Scott McIlroy and Danny Evans all went close. Three minutes after the break Damien Todorovic dribbled past a couple of defenders before squaring to Noong Naraphongt who made it one-each. Midway through the period Kayne Gordon-Davidson received his second yellow card and the home side were down to ten men. The decisive goal was struck with ten minutes left when Rose beat the offside trap and goalkeeper Scott Radford could only palm his powerful shot into the net. A second yellow card to Simon Messenger saw Morley reduced to ten men just before the final whistle. ROUND 3 - 22nd April, 2006 Morley-Windmills had the bye. ROUND 2 - 15th April, 2006 Balcatta picked up maximum points by defeating Morley Windmills 2-1 at Graham Burkett Reserve. It didn’t take the hosts long to get into stride as John Nicolaou’s shot from just inside the 18-yard box forced a terrific save out of Matt Darling. A superb cross from the right by Rob Giorgi produced the opening goal on 33 minutes which was nodded in at close-range by Nicolaou. That lead was very nearly short-lived as Scott McIlroy’s lob drifted over Jordan Conti but also the bar just a minute later. David Moschilla was presented a golden opportunity to give the home team a two-goal buffer at the break but he shot wide with only Darling to beat. Balcatta were on the attack after the re-start and Nicolaou was thwarted by Darling at close range. Ray Rose brought the teams level after 55 minutes by his marker and slammed the ball into the top corner from an acute angle. Morley looked to have gone ahead with eighteen minutes left when Conti parried a free-kick which Rose netted only to have it disallowed for handball. The deciding goal arrived three minutes into stoppage time when Anthony Toutunzious’ deep cross found Shane Mitchell whose powerful header from 3-metres gave Darling no chance. ROUND 1 - 8th April, 2006 Morley Windmills got their season off on the right note by defeating Canning City 2-0 at Wotton Reserve. Played in warm conditions, Canning was quickly into stride and created several good early opportunities courtesy of slick passing. Controversy erupted in the 39th minute when Daniel Trevisol slotted in from close range after Aaron Barnett’s cutback but the goal was ruled out by the assistant referee who deemed the ball had gone out of play before Barnett’s centre. This scare forced Morley to increase their workrate and shortly after Jeff Cargill parried Bobby Irving’s strike and then could only watch on as Ray Rose tucked away the loose ball. The second half saw Morley start the stronger with Aaron Beattie asserting his control in the centre of the park. The hosts were stringing together some good moves and a 52nd minute foul on Rose resulted in a free-kick which Adrian McBride lashed in to the net from just outside the 18-yard box. With nothing to lose Canning launched an all-out assault which saw Barnett crash a shot against the crossbar and Shane Laing head narrowly wide. Morley came close to adding a third late on as another McBride free-kick was palmed over the bar by the ‘keeper. SOCCER POOLS CUP, FIRST ROUND - 1st April, 2006 Swan I.C. took out a scrappy encounter at Wotton Reserve 3-0 over host club Morley Windmills. The black and whites were on top early but it was Morley who went closest through Ray Rose on 16 minutes. Swan got the goal they were after on 22 minutes when Miki Vujacic unleashed a powerful 20-metre drive which goalkeeper Matt Darling could only paddle into the top corner following a quickly taken free-kick by Damien Scali. Darling denied Swan a second just five minutes later by sharply responding to a close-range effort from David Foster. The black and whites continued to dominate possession but it took until a couple of minutes from the break to increase the lead when Rory Mouttet set-up Foster who, after dodging one challenge, slotted low past the ‘keeper. And Morley were lucky not to go in a further goal behind as Tom Shepheard’s glancing header was narrowly beyond the top corner shortly after. The second half opened with a bang as Aaron Beattie’s volley came back off the crossbar, and with the very next play Darling pushed a blistering shot from Vujacic wide. Simon Messenger was fortunate to stay on the park after denying Damien Scali a clear goalscoring opportunity with a rugby tackle. Danyal Bennett headed high, and Leighton Smith brought a fine save out of Hugo. The game was put beyond doubt in the 65th minute when Vujacic sent Scali down the right and his high ball into the area evaded two defenders but not Foster who nodded confidently into the far corner. The end to end nature of the game continued unabated with Rose denied by a last ditch tackle from Bennett. Darling has his reflexes tested by both Scott Campbell and Damien Catalano, while Danny Evans half-volley beat Hugo but was narrowly high of the crossbar. Club captain Simon Messenger 2006 NIGHT SERIES GAME FIVE Amateur Premier League side Stirling Panthers stunned Morley Windmills 2-1 in Thursday's late game. The Panthers created their first chance on goal after just two minutes and went on to dominate the opening half. However, they fell a goal behind three minutes from half-time when Ray Rose shot into the bottom corner to give the goalkeeper no chance. Matt Darling twice denied Stirling in the minutes which followed and ensured Windmills went into the break with the upper hand. Stirling's fightback began with ten minutes remaining when an attacker drilled his shot past Darling. And four minutes later Stirling snatched all three points when another player made the most of a one-on-one situation with the Windmills custodian. GAME FOUR Canning City recorded a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Morley Windmills in their re-arranged First Division and Amateur Night Series game this evening. The only goal of the first half came via the head of Simon Versaico after 12 minutes. Windmills evened the ledger ten minutes into the second period when Simon Messenger converted a dubious penalty. But just as Windmills looked like going on with the job they found themselves behind once again as Shane Laing nodded the ball into the net after the goalkeeper failed to sufficiently deal with a Ryan Allomes free-kick. Windmills were twice presented chances to equalise but Messenger shot wide from the spot, and Flavio L'Abbate was thwarted by an alert Jeff Cargill. Julio Barrendilla outpaced two defenders before rounding the 'keeper to score Canning third, and then Versaico rounded out the scoreline with a swift counter-attack in stoppage time. GAME THREE Forrestfield United registered a morale boosting 4-3 win in a pulsating game with Morley-Windmills. Jon Greenwood slotted in Forrestfield's opening goal after receiving a flick on from Lucus Whitehouse and beating his marker after 10 minutes. But the game didn't spark to life until Glen Noblet converted from the penalty spot early in the second half. Windmills struck back almost immediately through Scott McIlroy who benefitted from a superb cross into the area, and parity was restored when Ray Rose neatly rounded two opponents before flicking the ball over the approaching goalkeeper. Noblet scored his second from the spot ten minutes later, and an exquisite chip by Phil Bell made it four-two. Flavio L'Abbate netted Windmills' third goal in a goalmouth scramble six minutes from the end. GAME TWO A late penalty handed Morley-Windmills a 2-1 win over Fremantle United in Thursday's late game. The opening stages were dominated by Fremantle who launched wave after wave of attack but couldn't find the avenue to goal. The closest they came was a brilliantly taken free-kick that beat the defensive wall and goalkeeper Matt Darling only to come back off the woodwork. Windmills made a more positive start to the second half and went ahead through a fine header from Paul Dundo. Jamie Lattapiat's handball inside the 18-yard box saw Windmills reduced to ten men, and Fremantle get back on level terms when the spot kick was converted by Andre Rossi. Just when it appeared the game would end in a draw, a foul on Flavio L'Abbate drew a penalty for Windmills which the nippy forward slammed into the back of the net to decide the game. GAME ONE Morley Windmills cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over Rockingham City earlier on Wednesday evening. The first goal in a scrappy match that yielded few opportunities came via the penalty spot from where Simon Messenger converted following a foul on Ray Rose. Soon after Rose doubled the margin when he was sent through on goal and expertly chipped the oncoming goalkeeper. Rockingham came out after the break determined to get back into the game only to meet with stiff resistance from a Windmills rearguard underpinned by Messenger and Wayne Culverwell. At the opposite end Flavio L’Abbate and Scott McIlroy was denied Windmills' third goal by an alert ‘keeper, but there was little he could do in the final minute as Rose secured victory. 2005 Football West Saturday State First Division First Team
| Current Round | | Results and Fixtures | | Result Matrix | WINDMILLS FINISH SEASON ON A HIGH Morley-Windmills finished the 2005 season on fire, winning our last four games to easily avoid relegation. In Round 18 the club played already doomed Queens Park, and won 3-1. Next up was Canning City in Round 19 and Windmills were too good, winning 1-0. A win the week after and the club would have been of assured of playing another season in the First Division, and that's exactly what happened. Morley-Windmills easily beat the Stirling Suns away from home 4-0. In our last game of the season, Windmills played the in-form Gosnells City, and once again we were too strong, defeating Gosnells City 4-2. Morley-Windmills had the bye in Round 22, and finished the season in tenth position, one higher than our 2004 season. ROUND 17 - 6th August, 2005 Morley Windmills and Ashfield played out a tough, physical 3-3 draw at Wotton Reserve. It was Ashfield who applied much of the early pressure with Muhamed Komaderic headed narrowly over the bar and Wayne Culverwell's goalbound shot seemingly blocked by the hand of a defender. However, Morley were the first on the scoreboard via a speedy counterattack which ended with Scott McIlroy finding the net. But the hosts lead was to be short-lived with the referee awarding a soft penalty for a shirt tug on Culverwell, and Paddy O'Boyle's spot kick ricocheted in off the upright. Shortly before the break Morley went down to ten men after Paul Dundo received his second yellow card in the space of a few minutes. Early in the second half Morley went ahead when Simon Messenger converted from the penalty spot. Ten minutes later Adam Purcell delivered a perfect corner which O'Boyle headed in to bring the side back on level terms. Ashfield looked to have found the winner when Komaderic half-volleyed past the goalkeeper. But with three minutes to go Morley snatched a point through an Adrian McBride free-kick which crashed into defender Kevin Munro and ballooned over Elhossian Etthekis and into the net. ROUND 16 - 30th July, 2005 Kingsway Olympic bounced back from last weekend's big loss by defeating Morley Windmills 3-1 at Kingsway Sporting Complex. The home team made their intentions clear with a concerted focus on attack during a first half which they dominated. A well-weighted pass from Andy Stefanovski set-up Scott Evans to fire past the goalkeeper with 32 minutes played. Six minutes later it was Evans again, this time with a right-foot effort from 25-metres that dipped into the bottom corner of the goal. The win was secured five minutes into the second half via Steve Dimitrovich's dipping free-kick struck from outside the 18-yard box. With half an hour to play Windmills brought Ryan Fitzgerald off the bench with great effect. The match swung in the visitors favour as they mounted wave after wave of attack and increasingly forced Kingsway on to the defensive. Shortly after his introduction Fitzgerald showed great composure in slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to give his side a glimmer of hope. And although several opportunities were presented for Windmills to further reduce the deficit but it wasn't to be and Kingsway took out three valuable points in the battle to avoid relegation. ROUND 15 - 23rd July, 2005 Morley Windmills edged away from the drop zone after this afternoon's 5-0 thrashing of Kingsway Olympic at Wotton Reserve. With both clubs languishing near the foot of the table and desperate for points, it was the hosts who took the initiative and went ahead through Danny Evans who tapped in from 5-metres. In the 40th minute Morley received their first penalty kick of the season following a handball decision and from the spot Simon Messenger made no mistake in doubling their advantage. It wasn't long after that Kingsway gained a penalty of their own but Steve Dimitrovich wasted the chance by blasting over the crossbar. Just prior to half-time Morley increased the gap as Adrian McBride's free-kick from out wide found Grant Learmont who flicked it past the goalkeeper at the near post. Both teams had their chances in the second half with Morley taking full advantage as Michael Murray put away goal number four. The rout was completed close to the final whistle by McBride whose explosive shot hit the underside of the crossbar before crossing the goal line. Click here to check out the photographs of that game! ROUND 14 - 16th July, 2005 Morley-Windmills moved off the bottom of the Football West Saturday First Division after a convincing 4-0 win over Queens Park who are also trying to avoid relegation. ROUND 13 - 2nd July, 2005 Morley-Windmills had the bye ROUND 12 - 25th June, 2005 Canning City and Morley Windmills played out a 3-3 draw in their bottom of the table meeting at Willetton Sportsman Club. Canning wasted no time on getting on the scoreboard through a 2nd minute goal from Simon Versaico who tapped in to the net after Harin Rajeswaran's shot deflected off the leg of goalkeeper Dusan Martinovich. Things were looking good for the home team when they added a second to their tally on 20 minutes through Chris Wylie who ran the ball some 20-metres before unleashing a low drive that crept inside the far post. However, as has often been the case this season Canning undid all their good work through basic defensive lapses. A lack of communication between 'keeper Daniel Purcell and Paddy Fitzgerald was pounced upon by Grant Learmont who lobbed the ball into the net. And just before half-time Windmills drew level when Purcell failed to hold Adrian McBride's cross which spilled to Learmont who levelled the game. Canning once more took the lead ten minutes into the new half when Paul Oliver converted from the penalty spot following a foul by Simon Messenger. Learmont bagged his third of the afternoon midway through the half with a powerful strike into the top right corner from 15-metres. ROUND 11 - 18th June, 2005 South West Phoenix moved to sixth on the table with a 4-1 defeat of Morley Windmills at Wotton Reserve. Steve Suttie scored three and James Bergin one for the visitors while Adrian McBride scored a cracking free-kick for Windmills. ROUND 10 - 11th June, 2005 At Wotton Reserve Bassendean Caledonian held Morley Windmills to a 1-1 draw. Adrian McBride put the hosts ahead in the 45th minute with Rydeen Botha equalising against his former club midway through the second half. Windmills played most of the game with ten men after the 18th minute dismissal of Scott McIlroy, while in the final minute teammate Simon Messenger was also issued his marching orders after receiving his second yellow card. ROUND 9 - 4th June, 2005 Mandurah City moved to fourth place on the table after downing Morley Windmills 4-2 at Peelwood Parade. The hosts goals came via Christian Paschewitz, Jordan Rhodes, Michael Bobright and Gary Attrill with Ray Rose and Adrian McBride finding the net for Windmills. ROUND 8 - 28th May, 2005 Stirling Suns pulled off one of the upsets of the season by knocking over Morley Windmills 3-0. Desimir Tosevski netted twice and Peter Petkov once for the Suns. ROUND 7 - 21st May, 2005 The points were shared at Dowling Street Reserve where Rockingham City and Morley Windmills battled out a tight 1-1 draw. Rockingham where soon on the attack with a cross from Bryan Hastie scrambled away by the visiting defence as Glenn Hallums moved in to pounce. As the minutes went by Windmills gained control of proceedings and forced a succession of corners, the best of which saw Matt Carruthers crsah a powerful header into the crossbar. Late in the half Rob Crerar played through to Hallums who directed his shot straight at the goalkeeper. The pattern of the second half has Windmills enjoying the lions share of possession but Roickingham creating the better chances. Hallums was again denied in a one-on-one with the 'keeper, and a close-range strike by Crerar was also saved. The deadlock was broken in the 83rd minute when Simon Messenger's free-kick from 35-metres drifted over the 'keeper and into the net. Rockingham hit back minutes later when confusion in the visiting defence resulted in Danny Turner lobbing the 'keeper from the top edge of the 18-yard box. The remaining time was played out in Rockingham's attacking half and despite several promising opening they were unable to snatch a late winner. ROUND 6 - 14th May, 2005 Wanneroo City surrendered their perfect win record when held 2-2 at Wotton Reserve by a resolute Morley Windmills line-up that contained new recruit Justin Everly along with the return of Chris Kahil and Simon Messenger from injury. The first chance in an even opening spell came from the hosts as Adrian McBride's free-kick into the danger zone was nodded just over the crossbar by Ray Rose. Shortly after Andy Brown headed high in a similar situation at the opposite end, then Craig Cheesman's shot on the turn was expertly saved by the goalkeeper. The breakthrough came on 20 minutes when Rose seized upon an under-hit back pass which he walked around Darren Williams before slotting in. Wanneroo wasted no time in getting back in the game and levelled through Scott Bulloch who converted from the penalty spot. Williams then pulled off the save of the match from Rose to keep the ledger even. The second half was just minutes old when the visiting side added to their tally after Phil Bell was impeded inside the 18-yard box and Bulloch put away his second penalty. Any hopes Wanneroo held of running away with the game were quashed at this stage with Windmills matching them in every department. But it took until injury time for the home side to draw level through Steve Waycott. ROUND 5 - 7th May, 2005 Morley Windmills lost their second game in a row after going down to Forrestfield United 2-0 at Hartfield Park. Matt Alcock opened the scoring on 5 minutes with I.Carling wrapping up the points thirteen minutes into the second half. ROUND 4 - 30th April, 2005 In a very tight match at Wotton Reserve Ashfield did enough to claim victory by 1-0 over Morley Windmills. While the majority of the early possession was with Ashfield it was the visitors who looked most threatening as an Adrian McBride free-kick whizzing just wide of the post and David Boffa had a header cleared off the line following a corner. Ashfield's Adam Purcell should have done much better that hit his shot from 9-metres straight at goalkeeper Dusan Martinovic who shortly after made a brilliant save to keep out Will Kirkpatrick's diving header. Ray Rose then went close to putting Windmills ahead but the best chance of the half came at the opposite end of the park where Cairan Allen rounded the 'keeper only to have Christian Kahil clear his shot off the line. The second half was ten minutes old when Wayne Culverwell was judged to have been obstructed inside the penalty area and Allen converted the resultant spot kick in via the inside of the post. Windmills dominated for the remainder of the afternoon with good chances to Rose, Boffa and Scott McIlroy as Ashfield held on take out maximum points. The Reserves ended 2-0 in favour of Ashfield with Windmills winning the Under-18's 3-2. ROUND 3 - 23rd April, 2005 Balcatta took the points over a fast finishing Morley Windmills by 2-1 at Graham Burkett Reserve. The hosts dominated first half proceedings with Tony Paolino leading a watertight defence as Adam Rains and David Moschilla linked well through the middle of the park. The opening goal came about when Rains centring pass found Danny Carlino who lashed it past the goalkeeper. Opportunities to add further goals came the way of Joe Cinquina and Moschilla with neither able to capitalise despite being well positioned. Raymond Rose was presenting significant danger at the opposite end but with little support found genuine opening scarce. Balcatta started the second half in an attacking frame of mind and on 58 minutes doubled their advantage through Cinquina neatly put the ball away following a well-worked corner. Throwing caution to the wind Morley now went on the offensive as Ray Rose hit the frame of the goal and Scott Mcilroy forced a great save from Josh Manella. They reduced the margin to a single goal on 80 minutes when McIlroy bent a tremendous free-kick beyond the reach of Manella and into the far corner. Morley went within inches of grabbing a late minute equaliser with Adrian McBride skimming the outside of the post following another set piece play. Balcatta claimed the Reserves 4-1, and the Under-18's 8-2. ROUND 2 - 16th April, 2005 Morley Windmills and Dianella White Eagles shared nine goals at Wotton Reserve where the hosts triumphed 6-3. It was an encouraging start by Dianella who retained possession for lengthy periods and stretched their opponent. It was deservedly so then that they took the lead via Stefan Smiljanic on 12 minutes when the towering forward headed in from 5-metres. Stung into action Windmills equalised as Adrian McBride's dangerous corner was deflected by a Dianella defender past goalkeeper Anthony Mori for an own goal. It wasn't long before the game had swung well and truly in Morley's favour with McBride slamming a free-kick into the far corner of net. Zoran Barovic converted from the penalty spot to make it two-all, but just before the break the hosts again went ahead as Ray Rose nodded in a cross from David Boffa. Scott McIlroy scored Morley's fourth via a free-kick early in the new half, but again Dianella reeled in the gap as Dragan Njegic tapped in at the far post. Windmills were given some much needed breathing space by McBride who netted from a tight angle, and when a long-range strike by Boffa flew past Mori it was effectively game over. ROUND 1 - 9th April, 2005 The points were shared at Wotton Reserve where Morley Windmills and Gosnells City played out a 2-2 draw. Although by far the dominant side, the opening period yielded several good openings for the hosts who would have been somewhat disillusioned as they headed into the break a goal behind. Goalkeeper Jason Mehnert was kept on high alert as Gosnells dealt well with the pressure, and midway through the half their cause suffered a setback with captain Sean Cowman forced to leave the park with a calf strain. Windmills' first goal came not long after via a well crafted move down the left which was met by an unstoppable header from Ray Rose. Against the run of play Gosnells hit back to two rapid goals of their own from Darren Ingham and Mark Ronald. The second half proved to be slightly more open as the visitors went in search of a third goal to kill the game off as Windmills sought a way back into it. Morley's chances of sneaking even a point appeared dashed with the dismissal of Stephen Waycott for a challenge on Mehnert after 59 minutes. But close to the end Rose made the most of some defensive hesitancy put away the equaliser. MIDLAND BRICK CUP, FIRST ROUND - 2nd April, 2005 Bayswater City navigated their way into the next round of the association Cup by going past Morley Windmills 3-0 in picturesque conditions at Frank Drago Reserve. The opening twenty minutes very even with neither side able to really threaten on goal. As the minutes ticked by Bayswater gradually gained the upper hand and twice Boima Karpeh looked set to open their account but on each occasion was denied by the safe hands of Dusan Martinovic. Windmills supporters had good reason to feel aggrieved when Ray Rose was brought by the last defender and the referee chose to issue the offender with a caution when a red card would have been more fitting. Igor Novakovic was presented with a golden opportunity for Bayswater when put through with only the goalkeeper to beat but his initial shot was brilliantly blocked by Martinovic and with the follow-up he blasted over the crossbar with an open goal begging. The new half was five minutes old when Bayswater finally broke through with Scottish import Ross Barnes curling a terrific shot past the 'keeper. Much of the rest of the half was played in midfield with both teams creating what could only be described as a series of half chances, the best of which came the way of Karpeh who failed to convert a sitter from close-range. With Windmills pushing forward in number they were caught short at the back as substitute Sal Marrapodi raced through to double Bayswater's lead. Ten minutes from full-time the hosts went down to ten men after Daniel Naumovski was red carded for lashing out at an opponent. With just a handful of minutes left on the clock youngster Matt Wardle expertly weaved between two defenders and beat the on-coming 'keeper to put away Bayswater's third and final goal. 2004 SWC Westnet Employment Services First Division First Team

BOTHA WINDMILLS' BEST Rydeen Botha came away from Morley Windmills’ presentation evening with the Fairest and Best player and Players’ Player of the Year awards. Hard-working midfielder Simon Messenger was runner-up in the former, while the Young Player of the Year was taken out by Ryan Fitzgerald. The Reserves Fairest and Best went to Justy Jensen with Mark Aldworth runner-up. The Coaches Award was bestowed on Matt Carruthers. Although no trophies were presented, Botha’s 13 goals made him the first team’s top marksman, while the honour of the Reserves highest goalscorer was shared by Mark Aldworth and Carlos Mazloomi. ROUND 30 - 23rd October, 2004 Canning City completed their 2004 campaign with a hard-fought and at times acrimonious 1-0 win over Morley Windmills at Weir Park. Playing for the third time in seven days and at the end of a long twenty-eight game season, Canning had good reason to look a little flat as they attempted to secure third spot on the final First Division table ahead of rivals Mandurah City, South West Phoenix and Gosnells City. The match looked destined to end scoreless until, with seventeen minutes remaining, Mick Van Dongen's corner from the right was met solidly at the near post by Paul Oliver whose header flashed past goalkeeper Matt Darling who barely had time to react before the ball hit the net. ROUND 29 - 16th October, 2004 The points were also shared at Wotton Reserve where Morley Windmills and Ashfield drew 1-1. There were some good chances at both ends during a first half in which possession was evenly distributed between the two teams. The best chances of the period came the way of Ashfield who were unlucky not to go into the break with the lead but Alex Crookes and Craig Culverwell were each unable to put the ball away. Ashfield stepped up a gear after the break, continually applying the pressure by winning three corners in succession before Joe Kendall volleyed in with 54 minutes gone. Following the goal the two sides settled and carved out numerous promising attacks without being able to beat the opposing goalkeeper. With ten minutes left on the clock Windmills finally got back on a level footing through Rydeen Botha who expertly flicked the ball over goalkeeper Michael Taseski and into the corner of the net. The final one-all scoreline was a fair reflection of an entertaining game between two competitive and evenly matched teams. ROUND 28 - 9th October, 2004 Morley Windmills picked up just their seventh win of the winter when they defeated home team Stirling Suns by 3-1. The Suns started brightly with Bobby Ristevski finding the target after just 4 minutes. It was a barnstorming sixteen minute spell in the second half that turned the game around for Windmills, Rydeen Botha equalising in the 62nd minute before Justy Jensen put away two chances to complete the scoreline. ROUND 27 - 2nd October, 2004 South West Phoenix went home from Wotton Reserve with maximum points courtesy of a 4-1 win over Morley Windills. The Bunbury-based club were in control from the outset, stringing together a number of promising moves before breaking through in the 13th minute via Trent Hathaway. And just another two minutes had elapsed before the difference was increased by David Rodgers. At two goals down Windmills clawed their way back into the match but despite creating several good opportunities on goal were unable to reel in the gap before the interval. Four minutes into the second half Rodgers appeared to have put the game beyond the hosts' reach. But Windmills were having none of it and shortly after T.Evensen gave his side a glimmer of hope when he made it three-one. Phoenix though weren't about to let the game slip and they responded by increasing the pressure on the home defence who, to their credit, held firm. But with fourteen minutes remaining Rodgers completed his hat-trick and made safe Phoenix' fifteenth win of the winter. ROUND 26 - 25th September, 2004 Two injury time goals earned Morley Windmills a share of the points with Balcatta in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Graham Burkett Reserve. Scott Broadley opened the scoring for Balcatta in the 7th minute by rising high to head home a Mark Gentile corner. It was a Broadley cross after 32 minutes which lead to the hosts second goal which was turned in by an unfortunate Windmills defender. The visitors got themselves back in the contest with a goal against the run of play scored by Rydeen Botha on the hour. David Moschilla restored Balcatta's two-goal buffer shortly after when he finished off a neat move involving Gentile and Victor Bogos. Windmills responded through Sam Danesh with fifteen minutes to go, only to have young substitute Daniel Causerano scored what most thought was the sealer eight minutes later. But Windmills had other ideas and early in stoppage time Botha found the target after Balcatta failed to clear the danger inside their 18-yard area. The home crowd were left stunned when Botha comlpeted his hat-trick and brought Windmills' level with a simple header from close-range four minutes into stoppage time. ROUND 25 - 18th September, 2004 Gosnells City came home from Wotton Reserve with maximum points courtesy of a 3-2 scoreline over Morley Windmills. The hosts settled the quicker and with just 5 minutes gone Mark Adam found the target with a lopping shot over goalkeeper Massimo D'Alo from the edge of the 18-yard box. Within five minutes Gosnells were back on level terms as Andrew Daffin, one of the smallest players on the park, was allowed to head in a corner unchallenged. Windmills reclaimed the lead after 21 minutes with a pacey attack straight at the heart of the opposing defence in which Rydeen Botha slotted calmly past the 'keeper. Darren Ingham should have equalised seven minutes from the break but was guilty of missing a simple tap-in from 5-metres, and shortly after Daffin was thwarted from the penalty spot by Windmills custodian Matt Darling. Tony Lang achieved where his teammates had failed by heading in a Daffin free-kick right on the stroke of half-time. The second half belonged to Gosnells who forced the hosts onto the defensive for long periods. The deciding goal came in the 66th minute when Daffin popped up to score his team third headed goal. ROUND 24 - 11th September, 2004 Morley Windmills defeated Rockingham City thanks to a Rydeen Botha penalty right on the stroke of half-time. ROUND 23 - 4th September, 2004 Morley Windmills worked tirelessly but were unable to prevent Mandurah City from taking out the points by a 2-0 scoreline at Wotton Reserve. Both goals arrived in the second half and via star striker Christian Paschewitz who found the net after 48 and 83 minutes. Windmills were reduced to ten men three minutes from the end when Chris Khalil was sent off, and a minute later Mandurah had youngster Neil Connor red carded. ROUND 22 - 28th August, 2004 Kingsway Olympic ended a month of losses by toppling Morley Windmills 5-0 in the northern suburbs. Scott Evans started the romp after 3 minutes with a spectacular drive from 18-metres that soared into the top corner of the goal. Windmills custodian Matt Darling lost his footing as he attempted a clearance on top of his area, the ball went straight to Danny Trandos who lobbed it back over the stranded goalkeeper from distance to double the margin shorlty after. Evans added to the hosts tally by cutting in from the right and blasting past Darling from 28-metres. Olympic pretty much wrapped up the game shortly before the break as Michael Borromei took possession and slammed in goal number four. The second half continued in much the same fashion with the crowd entertained by some great passages of play from the Green Machine. The final goal of the afternoon came on 50 minutes when Steven Beasley was sent past the defence and the youngster kept his composure to neatly lobbed over the 'keeper and into the net. The win, Olympic's fifth of the winter, lifted them into eleventh place as Windmills slip to twelfth. ROUND 21 - 21st August, 2004 A Rydeen Botha hat-trick gave Morley Windmills a surprise 3-2 win over Leeming Strikers at Wotton Reserve. Coming off successive losses, Windmills were looking to get things back on track with a positive showing on home soil. The hosts started well and on 12 minutes Willy Lyall was played through only to be halted in his tracks by an incorrect offside call from the line. Slowly the visitors settled into a rhythm but could find no way past goalkeeper Matt Darling who was in fine form. The best chance came just before the interval when on offside call went in the Strikers favour but Lucas Whitehouse was unable to capitalise with only the 'keeper to beat. Five minutes into the second half substitute Simon Verersaso slotted the ball to Dale Wingell who put the Strikers one-nil up. That lead last all of the three minutes before Botha equalised by beating the 'keeper from a tight angle. Windmills gained the upper hand soon after as Botha found the target for a second time. Determined to get points out of the game, the Strikers hit back with fifteen minutes to go via Leroy Goodwin. But Windmills desire was the greater and in the 87th minute Ryan Fitzgerald set-up Botha who completed his haul and gave the home team maximum points. ROUND 20 - 14th August, 2004 Armadale scored a comfortable 7-1 win over Morley Windmills whose resources were stretched to the limits at Alfred Skeet Oval. Jason Goodwin opened the scoring after 4 minutes with Greg Newcombe adding the hosts second a minute later. Armdale took a five goal lead into the break courtesy two goals in three minutes from Dean Gartside and Goodwin's second of the afternoon just before the half-time whistle. Further goals in the second half from Goodwin and Gartside enabled each player to end the day with a hat-trick. "Things started going wrong for us before the game with three players from the starting line-up pulling out less than hour before kick-off," said Windmills coach James Herbert. "At five down at half-time I really felt for the lads because the first few goals were so early. However, I was pleased with our second half display because it would have been so easy to throw in the towel. To the lads credit they showed a lot of character and fought to the end. We all knew this season would be tough but we have set ourselves a goal for the remainder of the season and are determined to reach it." ROUND 19 - 7th August, 2004 Morley Windmills had the bye ROUND 18 - 31st July, 2004 Morley Windmills proved no match for Queens Park who came away from Wotton Reserve with maximum points courtesy of a staggering 8-1 scoreline. Queens Park were quick out of the block and less than twenty minutes gone had pretty much sewn up the game through four unanswered goals. Adrian McBride was the first to net with just 3 minutes gone and Glen Noblet added to the tally shortly after. It was Paul Dundo's turn to score on the quarter hour and three minutes later Noblet send the ball past goalkeeper Matt Darling for a second time. Windmills managed to pull one back midway through the half via William Lyall, but four minutes before the break the visitors restored their four-goal buffer as Ray Rose scored against his former club. The flood of goals continued after the break with McBride adding his second on 51 minutes, and Noblet completing his hat-trick in the 62nd minute. The games final goal arrived four minutes from full-time when Dean Dalby became the fifth Queens Park player to get himself on the scoresheet. ROUND 17 - 24th July, 2004 Wanneroo City made it ten wins on the trot when they accounted for a gallant Morley Windmills by 2-0 at Kingsway Sporting Complex. Despite numerous opportunites the hosts ended the first half scoreless as Windmills rode their luck. Brian Robertson hit the post following a neat touch from John Dixon, while a quickly taken free-kick by Scott Wyeth found the net but was disallowed by the referee as Windmills were still in the process of arranging their defensive wall. Later in the half Craig Cheesman, Dixon and Robertson each called goalkeeper Chris Darling into action who responded with some fantastic saves. The fans were still getting settled into the seats for the second half when Wanneroo finally broke through as Stuart Collins' centre from the right was nodded in by Robertson. Luke Croxall went close with a header shortly after, then Dixon spurned a great chance following a fine long ball from the middle by Chris Currie. The hosts effectively put the game beyond Windmills with a contender for goal of the season in which an inch-perfect delivery from Dixon landed on the head of Scott Bulloch who placed it past the 'keeper.
